People In The Daytime
Meeting between the years of 2014-2017, Evan Schonauer (lead vocals and guitar), Anthony Liotta (shouts and bass), Owen Barba (drums and percussion), and John Polace (synth keyboards and vocals), joined forces to create People in The Daytime – an indie funk act from Cleveland, OH. The release of their self-titled debut album in 2021 introduced their signature sound with lead singles, “In Love With A TV”, and “Men In Suits (With Painted Faces)”, along with additional tracks steeped in modern funk, electronic jazz, and groovy dance music.
Recorded in a basement of their own, co-written between members and independently produced, the band’s production genesis became a catalyst for their entrance into the North Eastern Ohio music scene. Through the early 2020’s they would grace the stages of Cleveland venues Mahall’s, Beachland Ballroom, Dirty Dungarees and the Grog Shop; as well as in Kent/Akron at The Rialto, Kent Ballroom and Kent Basement. Their reputation as insatiable performers precedes them, as they are infamous for their animated and provocative stage presence in Ohio, and as of recent across the greater midwest in their Winter 2024 tour in cities such as Charlotte, Louisville, Atlanta and Knoxville; among others.
2024 also saw the release of All For My Love, a cyclical EP of work showcasing a diversification in their sound and production. The EP is an encapsulated piece of artistry that, while singular, highlights the prowess of each member – percussion and bass synchronicity between Liotta and Barba in “Come Running for My Love”; a maturity in range and tone exemplified by Polace in “Everyone I Know”; and Schonauer’s solo soliloquy with both vocals and guitar in “I Can’t Let Go”. The band premiered the EP in Akron, Ohio at the Rialto Theatre.
People In The Daytime continues to be Cleveland based, and are in the midst of completing new work during their pre-spring performance break. They can be reached on all social media links, including their email peopleinthedaytime@gmail.com
